Teachers Empowerment Session on POCSO Awareness

As part of its commitment to ensuring student safety and legal awareness, Ahalia Public School conducted a Teachers’ Empowerment Session on POCSO Awareness on 24 January 2026 at 1:30 PM in the APS Auditorium. The session aimed to familiarise teachers with the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and to strengthen their role in safeguarding children.

The programme began with a welcome address by the Principal, Ms. Smitha P. Krishnan, who highlighted the importance of maintaining a safe and supportive school environment. The Guest Speaker, Advocate Prem Nath, Secretary General – Viswas India and Former Deputy Director of Prosecution, delivered an informative talk explaining the key provisions of the Act and the responsibilities of teachers as mandated reporters. The session was interactive and provided practical insights into child protection procedures.

A token of appreciation was presented by the Academic Director, Ms. Nirmala Haridasan. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the Academic Coordinator, Mr. Raju P., expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the session. The programme was highly beneficial and reinforced the importance of awareness and vigilance in ensuring the well-being of every child.
