At Ahalia Public School, Palakkad, self-defence education forms an integral part of the school’s efforts to promote holistic development and student well-being. As a best practice, the school conducts self-defence and personal safety programmes for girl students, equipping them with practical skills and awareness that extend beyond the classroom.
A dedicated Self-Defence Programme was conducted on 23 September 2026 for the girl students of Classes IX and XI at the APS Auditorium. The programme was coordinated by Mr. Arumughan V, Assistant Sub Inspector and Janamaithri Assistant District Nodal Officer, Addl. SP Office, Palakkad, along with police officers from Kozhinjampara Police Station, Alathur Police Station and the Traffic Unit, Palakkad.
The programme focused on personal safety, situational awareness, confidence, responsible decision-making and basic self-protection techniques. Through practical demonstrations and interactive sessions led by trained police personnel, students gained an understanding of how to recognise potentially unsafe situations and respond with presence of mind and confidence.
This best practice reflects the school’s commitment to empowering students with essential life skills alongside academic learning. By providing girls with opportunities to learn about personal safety and self-protection from law-enforcement professionals, the school encourages them to become confident, aware, responsible and resilient young individuals.
